Prudential
BSN Takaful Bhd (PruBSN), the leading family takaful provider in Malaysia which
celebrated its 15th anniversary yesterday, will focus on digitising its
services to be more efficient and ensuring a safer environment for all.
PruBSN
in a statement today said it has always been at the forefront of digital
inclusion and the pandemic has accelerated this transformation.
"To
facilitate contactless transactions in the new normal and enable sign-ups to be
done virtually, the Remote Enrollment Option was created.
"PruBSN
has also launched PruBSN Aman, the first mobile application (app) in Malaysia
that is built on the takaful foundation with the ta`awun (mutual cooperation)
and peer-to-peer (P2P) concept.
The
app was also a step change in empowering mutual protection and assistance by
making takaful and funeral services more inclusive, transparent and affordable
for both Muslims and non-Muslims," it said.
PruBSN
has also partnered with the Implementation Coordination Unit in the Prime
Minister’s Department to distribute more than 10,000 Microtakaful Jariyah plans
to protect underprivileged households in Malaysia.
Since
its launch in 2018, this strategic collaboration has benefitted over 66,000
low-income households across the nation.
Over
the years, PruBSN’s mission has remained at securing the future of Malaysian
families and increasing the takaful penetration in the country through offering
innovative solutions built on Islamic values.
"The
current pandemic has increased the awareness among the public on the importance
of protection, and the plans offered have the objective of providing more
health protection that are reasonable and accessible by companies and
individuals nationwide," it said.
In
conjunction with its 15th anniversary celebration, PruBSN will be running
contests and 'rezeki' draws for Malaysians on Pulse by Prudential (Pulse), an
all-in-one, artificial intelligence-powered health and wellness app.
Meanwhile,
PruBSN chief executive officer Wan Saifulrizal Wan Ismail said the company is
committed to providing comprehensive protection, as well as innovative
solutions and services to meet the needs of customers particularly during these
challenging times.
“We
have come a long way since our establishment in 2006. In the past 15 years, the
company has been constantly looking at new ways to innovate and enhance its
product and service offerings to meet the evolving needs of the customers.
“The
past year has been an unprecedented year for all of us. The takaful business
penetration rate in Malaysia is still low and far from the national
target," he said.
Bank
Simpanan Nasional (BSN) chief executive Jay Khairil Jeremy meanwhile said
PruBSN was a result of a joint-venture between two financially strong
companies, UK-based Prudential plc and BSN that was first established in 2006
through a licence awarded by Bank Negara Malaysia.
"Our
aim is to provide customers with opportunities to pursue better and more
sustainable takaful plans while helping to support the economy as a
whole," he said.
