The main objective of this Workshop is to engage participants in the discussion on the current environment of the Islamic Banking and post-crisis developments, which will focus on the supervision developments, Shariah compliance, and the risk management techniques in IFIs.

The stimulating, interactive 3-days Technical Workshop will seamlessly integrate theory with practice to offer participants hands on experience and provide the practical tools and techniques that will enhance their day-to-day professional performance. The Workshop will cover areas such as Shariah Governance (Framework, Structure & Shariah Board), Shariah Compliance and Shariah Non-Compliance Risk in Islamic Financial Institutions. It will also discuss the Shariah Board in the Islamic Financial Institution, Compliance in Products and Services in IFIs, Compliance and Legal Documentation in IFIs, Islamic Tools and Instruments for Identifying Incongruence in Shariah Compliance among many other topics.

Commenting on the upcoming Technical Workshop Mr. Abdelilah Belatik, Secretary General of CIBAFI said: “I would like to highlight that the membership of CIBAFI in Africa has been increasing in recent years and that is an indication of the growth in Islamic Finance in African region. This is the reason why we are strategically focusing on fulfilling the needs of our members in Africa and providing an essential support to their growth, I very much look forward to bringing CIBAFI to Kenya this April”

Technical Workshop initiative is aligned with CIBAFI’s fourth Strategic Objective of Professional Development, and in particular CIBAFI’s endeavour to enhance capacity building in the Islamic Financial Services Industry (IFSI). CIBAFI, as the ‘voice’ of the industry, aims to provide platforms such as these to develop human capital and bring industry professionals together to encourage dialogue and enhance knowledge sharing on most relevant matters of the IFSI.
