 Islamic Development Bank grants loan to STEG

An agreement on guarantee and another loan agreement granted by the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) to the Tunisian Electricity and Gas Company (STEG) were signed on Feb. 5th, 2010 in Tunis.
An agreement on guarantee and another loan agreement granted by the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) to the Tunisian Electricity and Gas Company (STEG) were signed on Feb. 5th, 2010 in Tunis.

The agreements were respectively signed by Mr. Mohamed Nouri Jouini, the Minister of Development and International Cooperation, Mr. Othman Ben Arfa, the Chairman and Managing Director of the Tunisian Electricity and Gas Company (STEG), and Mr. Birama Boubaker Sidebé, the Vice President of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB).
 
Worth 33, 40 million Euros, the loan will contribute to finance the project of natural gas supply to the governorate of Gafsa and its mineral field whose global cost is estimated at 67 million Tunisian dinars.

On the occasion, the minister stressed the importance of bolstering the bilateral relations between Tunisia and the Islamic Development Bank (IDB).

For his part, Mr. Boubaker Birama SideBe announced the disposition of the institution to support Tunisia, a founding member of the IDB in the implementation of its projects and programs.

Another agreement on a technical assistance donation aiming at reinforcing the institutional capacities of the national bank of genes was also signed. Under this agreement, the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) grants a donation worth 400, 000 US dollars to finance notably the training of human resources, the purchase of books, scientific encyclopedia as well as laboratory equipment.
